Genre: Dark comedy/mystery
Synopsis: The character lemony Snicket says “If you want a happy ending, put down this book and read something else.” We get an introduction to the characters Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire. Mr Poe (The banker) comes up to them and tells them, “your parents have perished in a terrible fire.” That's when the unfortunate events happen. The Baudelaire meet Count Olaf. Count Olaf makes the orphans do terrible chores and makes them cook dinner for his theatre troupe. That’s basically the synopsis.
Favourite Part: My favourite part is when the Baudelaires meet Count Olaf and he says “Hello, hello, hello children.” because it's menacing when Count Olaf says it.
Recommendation: I recommend the book if you like dark humour and mystery. It's a really good introduction to the series of 13 books.

awesome review
ReplyDeleteHi Ethan - I like the name Lemony Snicket, it is a hook for me and makes me want to read the book, even though it is a pen name. It is clever how he is both the author and a character. Don't you love it when you find a series that you enjoy.
