Hello Bloggers, today I wrote a story using Harris Burdick picture and prompt. 

Thirty years ago a man called at Peter Wenders’ office (Mr Wender's was a book publisher), introducing himself as Harris Burdick. Mr Burdick explained that he had written fourteen stories and had drawn many pictures for each one. He’d brought with him just one drawing from each story, to see if Wenders liked his work.

Peter Wenders was fascinated by the drawings. He told Burdick he would like to read the stories that went with them as soon as possible. The artist agreed to bring the stories the next morning. He left the fourteen drawings with Wenders. But he did not return the next day. Or the day after that. Harris Burdick was never heard from again. Over the years, Wenders tried to find out who Burdick was and what had happened to him, but he discovered nothing.

To this day, Harris Burdick remains a complete mystery.

Hello Bloggers, this term Davos (my literacy group) have been working on how to write a persuasive piece of writing. First, we looked at infomercials and how they persuaded people to buy the product. Then the teachers taught us the O.R.E.O format of writing a persuasive piece of writing. O.R.E.O format is Opinion Reason Examples and Opinion restated. I started to write why Palm Oil Plantations Needs To Be Stop. I brainstormed with the teacher and used writing on the brainstorm and put it into my own writing. Palm Oil Plantations Needs To Be Stop

How would you feel if someone came and bulldozed your house for a new road? For our worlds orangutans, this is a very real problem. Their natural habitat is being destroyed. Soon, their home will be taken away. I believe that humans should save orangutans and stop palm oil plantations immediately.

Did you know that the orangutan’s habitats are being burnt for palm oil plantations? This is due to consumers buying products that contain palm oil. According to The National Geographic, between 1990 and 2016 we lost 1.3 million sq/km of forest due to palm oil forestry. Not only is it destroying the habitats but the smoke is choking animals in the forest. 

Cheap products use palm because it’s cheaper and cooking oil is expensive to use in products. Palm oil is found in cheaply made products like 2-minute Noodles,  chocolate, chips, shampoo and make-up. These cheap products are costing the habitats of orangutans.

25 Orangutans are being killed a day with Habitats being destroyed which is leading to them becoming endangered and possibly extinct. The parents get killed because people find no use for parent orangutans. The baby orangutans die or get taken away to an animal care centre. If the orangutans are left to die this could mean the species are going to be extinct, they are already endangered. According to Greenpeace, 25 Orangutans are being killed a day and according to the Orangutan Conservancy 2000-3000, a year are being killed.

 believe that humans should stop palm oil plantations immediately before the habits of the orangutans get destroyed. If you go to a food market or the supermarket make sure to check the ingredients for palm oil. How can educate other people to help?

The amazing 5R's

This post is a about the 5R's. The 5R's are Resilience, Reflectiveness, Reciprocity, Respect, Resourcefulness. Resilience means that you never give up. Reflectiveness means you reflect on your work and see if you can change it. Reciprocity means you help each other if needed. Respect means that you treat each other the way you like to be treated. Resourcefulness means that you use objects around for example a computer. At your school do you have something like the 5R's?
